Collection: Horrockses

Founded in 1946, London. Cutting edge fashion designers in London used cotton produced by the Horrockses Mill in Preston, Lancashire (since 1791). Particularly famous in the 1950s for vibrant floral prints and full-skirted dresses, a look characterised by Christian Dior, defining the female silhouette in the drab, pot-war era. High demand came from the US, acknowledging the quality structure and craftsmanship of the garments.

“One of the most well-respected ready-to-wear labels of the late 1940s and 50s.”  Fashion and Textile Museum
